Fire Prevention Week

Fire Prevention Week 2008 will be October 5th-11th. Fire Prevention Week was established to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire, the tragic 1871 fire killed more than 250 people, left 100,000 homeless, destroyed more than 17,400 structures and burned more than 2,000 acres. In 2007, 1,557,500 fires were reported in the United States. These fires caused 3,430 civilian deaths, 17,675 civilian injuries, and $14.6 billion in property damage. We are committed to reducing the number of fires and fire related injuries. During this year's Fire Prevention Week, we expect to teach approx 600 kids about fire safety and fire prevention techniques.

Fill The Boot 2008 Collects 5,448.73

We are very excited to announce, thanks to the generous donations from the folks passing through the Wolfforth intersections during this year's Fill The Boot event, we were able to raise 5,448.73 for MDA. Those few cents from ash trays and few dollars from wallets really add up. For more information about MDA please visit MDA's website.

Paint the Sky 2008!

Just after dark on July 4th, The Wolfforth Fire Department lit up the sky for those who filled up Patterson Park. Earlier in the day, the department cooked up 150 ribeye steaks for the “Sizzlin’ Steak Dinner in the Park”. Tickets to the event were presold for $15. The booster club of the department was also on hand with T-shirts for sale as their fund raiser. Members of the club also passed out free glow-bracelets to kids in the park. Wolfforth Fire and EMS and the booster club would like to thank all those who donated their time and money to this year’s event. We hope to see you again next year. Happy 4th of July!

Wolfforth Fire and EMS volunteers at WUMC VBS 2008!

On June 12th, Wolfforth Fire and EMS participated in "Family Night" at Wolfforth United Methodist Church. WUMC's Vacation Bible School theme this year was "Outrigger Island" and they celebrated the last night with water toys and a cook-out.  The department held a raffle for a "Birthday Party at the Fire House" and all money was donated back to the church's Soldiers Ministry. Phone cards will be purchased and mailed to area soldiers so that they may call home to loved ones. The kids loved playing in the water and also had the chance to spray the fire hose themselves.
